Number of carers over 65 rises by 16%

Millions of older people are caring for frail and unwell relatives due to serious under funding in social care, according to a leading charity. Age UK says the number of over 65s caring for loved ones has risen by 16 per cent in the past five years. New figures found 2.3 million people aged 65 and older were providing care for another person in 2015-16, compared with a figure of 1.8 million five years earlier. 400,000 of those were age 80 or over.
