Living with dementia
There are over 800,000 people in the UK who live with dementia. The term dementia is used to describe the symptoms of a number of different diseases or conditions that cause the progressive decline of your brain. Although dementia is more likely to happen the older you get, it is not a normal or inevitable part of ageing.
Being diagnosed with dementia can come as a shock. We have created a factsheet that explains more about the different types of dementia and the help available to you to support and maintain your independence. It also contains helpful information about dementia for your family and carers.
