The Board of Voices & Choices

The Board is made up of local residents from a variety of backgrounds who all have experience of caring for or working with local people who need services.

Barbara Poole, the Chair of Voices & Choices, has worked with national voluntary organisations including MIND, Carers UK, Contact Family and the MS Society. For the past 20 years she has been involved with voluntary organisations in Buckinghamshire including those delivering advocacy, direct payments support and advice, and with Prevention Matters workers. This experience helped Barbara identify the gap in service provision which Voices & Choices has been set up to fill.

George Cronin, is the Finance Director for Voices & Choices. He is retired after spending a career in the construction sector in several companies as Finance and Managing Director. George has also served as a Pension Scheme Trustee and has personal experience of the elderly requiring dementia care.

Jill Barnes has extensive business leadership experience. She was CEO of the Exemplas Group and, after three years of challenge and putting the group on to a more stable footing, in February 2016, Jill left for a more flexible work life balance and is now a business and project consultant. She is currently with the London Borough of Barnet to transform the library service to create 4 Partnership libraries run by the voluntary sector and the establishment of a Corporate Landlord function.

Jill joined the Board of Voices & Choices in April 2016 and is passionate about meeting the needs of those who are isolated and require support. She also has personal experience of the elderly requiring dementia care.

Susan Masters was a teacher and the principal of a private secondary school in the UK, before retiring very early to enjoy several Granny Gap Years. After returning home, she worked in social care with adults with learning disabilities for 15 years and then retired yet again.

Janice Freed joined the board in April 2016. Janice works with the University of Hertfordshire Group of companies as an Operational Manager, and she has extensive experience in marketing, contract and people management. Prior to this, Janice was Fashion Merchandise Director for a department store group. Her background has resulted in a strong financial and commercial management focus that she brings to the Voices & Choices board.

Marta De Gouveia has 20 years’ experience in wealth management with a thorough understanding of personal and corporate investments and tax planning. Marta works with families across multiple generations to establish their needs and aspirations to help them achieve their goals. Her work has involved establishing internal processes to ensure the effective co-ordination between specialist teams of research, delivery and implementation of outcomes within large and small corporate firms.

Madhav Narahari is responsible for technology within Voices & Choices and is committed to bringing technology to social space which will help Voices & Choices increase the scope and reach of the service. Throughout his 20 year career in the financial sector he has demonstrated an ability to drive business-critical product development programmes with his depth of experience and knowledge of programme management and product development.
